Implantada inicialmente para atender a forma\u00e7\u00e3o de n\u00edvel m\u00e9dio t\u00e9cnico em agropecu\u00e1ria e zootecnia, ap\u00f3s sancionada a lei 11.892 em 29 de dezembro de 2008, no qual as antigas Escolas Agrot\u00e9cnicas passaram a modalidade de Instituto, o acervo tamb\u00e9m se modernizou para atender ao programa dos novos cursos tecnol\u00f3gicos e das gradua\u00e7\u00f5es. A Biblioteca tem por finalidade prestar servi\u00e7os com qualidade \u00e0 comunidade, disponibilizando acesso, consulta e recupera\u00e7\u00e3o da informa\u00e7\u00e3o, al\u00e9m de apoio as atividades de pesquisa, ensino e extens\u00e3o da institui\u00e7\u00e3o.
